I always had dreams of being an actor and even went to college majoring in Musical Theatre. After graduating school, i went to work professionally in the theatre and, like most actors, had two options: wait tables or work in retail. I wasn't a great waiter (I always forgot to bring extra napkins) but found a home in retail.
I started at the entry level and worked my way up with several Fortune 500 retailers, until I found my ultimate passion...Leadership Development. I found people, like me, who had been marginalized or who were playing with the hand that life had delt them but had so much knowledge and potential. I saw the benefits that organizations received when people were led to their full potential. This work became my passion.
As I got to know the people that I worked for, I realized that there was more to the story. It became not just about the development of workplace skills but navigating the experiences of work and life. Having personally been socio-economically disenfranchised and a social outcast, I could empathize with their circumstances. The key became balancing the scales and understanding that we can either manage our lives or lead our lives, we just need a robust set of skills to do it and a good coach to push us. This is my true passion!
